Live at Paddy's Murphys, Bangor ME. 1/12/13
Recorded from Mackie 1604 to Tascam DR2D 2-track recorder, tweaked in Pro Tools LE 7.4 and Logic Studio 8
FUN FACT: Lead singer Adam Babcock's vocal "telephone" delay on the "Lost Jackson Jam" was actually added by The Two Mikes (Arnold and Rancourt) in post-production.
"Peppy" Rancourt loved the lead guitarist's (Patterson) delay so much, Rancourt wondered how he could get the same effect on Babcock's vocals.
He remembered how he cuts every instrument around 800 Hz to have Adam's vocals "pop more live when he sings."
On a whim, Rancourt sent the entire mix to a buss and listened to only the midrange band of 800Hz-1200Hz.
Much to Rancourt's delight, Adam's voice was "loud and telephony and freakin' awesome." After hunting through several delays, he found one "close to Patterson's lead guitar," and recorded a pass of automation to pop the delay effect only when Adam sang.
